Happiness & Joy: What’s The Difference?Apr 27, 2021
The word “Happy” is overused if you ask me.
Do you know the difference? Because there totally is one.
If not… Read on!
Happiness is a feeling of pleasure and positivity. When someone feels good, proud, excited, relieved or satisfied about something, that person is said to be "happy". Feeling happy may help people to relax and to smile. Happiness is usually thought of as the opposite of sadness.
In other words: Happiness is fleeting. When I go shopping... That would be a state of happiness. An external validation. Something makes me happy; rather than… me being a joyful state.
So… Joy… A state of being…
Someone who's joyful is very happy. A joyful child will laugh with delight. When you experience the feeling of joy, you're joyful. ... To be joyful is beyond being happy — there is delight and a kind of bliss involved in feeling joyful.
Someone doesn’t need a thing or a person to make them joyful. Being joyful is a state of mind. When someone is joyful, they just are.
I choose joy over happiness any day! What about you?
